Futures live in our bodies.

I am deeply curious about how they quietly shape our collective realities. These living futures are the source of my work, and performance is how I share them.

His way of dealing with the self and its endless journey never stays an insider joke. It opens up to everyone.

I am a choreographer, performer and artistic researcher based in Amsterdam. The key aspect of my work is that the body knows things before we can put them into words, and that knowledge deserves to be taken as seriously as data and analysis.

I follow this in two directions. On stage, I make choreographic works about what we learn and what is hidden in the body, especially around manhood. Conversations with Shadows follows a Good Boy who always says yes, and UNFOLDING turns an oversized hoodie into armour, shelter and a symbol of masculinity. In research projects, I explore how people embody the futures and how they shape the realities we live in. I work with groups through movement and share the findings through live performances, most recently with The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the Xulu202X project in Oulu, European Capital of Culture 2026. I also lead Embodied Futures workshops for groups who want to imagine futures through the body.

In both directions, performance is my research method. The live work is where a question gets tested, not where an answer gets illustrated, and it leaves room for the audience to recognise themselves.

My work is honest, playful, dark and funny, often at once. I move from breakdance and improvisation in the lineage of my mentor, Katie Duck, to Body Weather, and I work with voice and text.

I came here by an unusual route. I was a three-time Finnish breakdance champion, studied management and Futures Studies, spent six years as a futures consultant and completed an MA in Performance Practices at ArtEZ. That path is why my work moves between the theatre, the studio and the university.

Conversations with Shadows

A performance about a good boy

Through the character of a Good Boy, a light is shed on the contradictory inner worlds of a dependable lad who always says yes. What unfolds is an introspective study of the so-called "good boy syndrome": a pattern of people-pleasing, overworking and suppressing needs to gain approval, and how learned behaviours generate the ritual of violence, repression and obedience that colours the days of boyhood.

The Good Boy navigates his mind. His body responds to invisible emotions, his words garble through smothered thoughts. A sea of sounds, voice-overs and spoken text reveals the absurdity, tenderness and universality of internal chatter, at times personal and vulnerable, at others surreal and threaded with storytelling and humour.

Raw, hilarious, personal, and trippy. As raw as it is intimate.
— Audience response
Raw, hilarious, personal and trippy. It's as raw as it is intimate — you can feel how deeply personal the work is, and that vulnerability makes it incredibly easy for the audience to connect.
— Audience member
Your isolation control is absolutely amazing to watch, I can't get enough of it. It was funny, but also touching — vulnerable and stereotypical at the same time.
— Guest artist
Somehow you dragged us underwater without us realising it, and then brought us back again to awake, conscious thinking.

UNFOLDING

Breakdance meets performance. I use the cultural structures and norms of breakdance, my own experience of the culture and its movement language to trace how hip-hop inscribes itself on the body, as a speculative and social archive.

The work is a journey between the hoodie and the performer, through cultures, norms and identity.

Better person(a)?

A multimedia performance that uses movement, text, video and sound to look at personal development and the self-help industry: the existential urgency to be better, more successful, prettier, more handsome.

It invites collective imagination and asks audiences about their own relationship with self-worth, aiming to evoke collective action without guilt or blame.

Xulu202X

A project for practising imagination and dreaming. Grounded in the communal values of hip-hop culture and the methods of futures studies, it explores utopias, dystopias and the parallel realities created by different social realities.

It has three parts: futures workshops with varied groups (2023–2026), performances that continue the conversations and worlds opened in the workshops, and a symposium on the possibilities of art in futures research (1 October 2025).

Optimal Future Professional Body

Research with design students on how their future expectations of professionalism are carried in the body. Findings were gathered through somatic movement and theatre workshops, and shared in a research performance in summer 2026.

A performance, a written thesis and a practice guide for practitioners. The performance, It is not going to be perfect, combines movement, text, sound and video to look at the paradox of knowingly making unsustainable decisions from learned habits.

Chapter 58

An active collective exploring what it means for a group of bodies to improvise together in real time, to decide together without a script, and to compose performances live with movement, text and sounds created using a loop station. Performed a series of 5 performances at DijkTheater in 2025–2026. In 2026–2027, in collaboration with Plein Theatre in Amsterdam.

Two performers in light blue polo shirts gesturing with raised hands in a pool of light, a row of chairs between them. Two performers on a dark stage in front of a grey curtain: one on one leg with raised hands, one in mid-headstand in a grey suit. Antti Uimonen sitting on a dark stage floor, laughing, in a gold cape with a purple blanket over his legs.

Since 2021 · Workshop facilitation

Embodied Futures Workshops

Futures Studies meets movement improvisation, so that participants can speculate about and imagine futures creatively, through the body rather than only through talk and slides. Groups use somatic movement and simple scores to sense how change, pressure and possibility already live in them, and to imagine what could be different.

Facilitated for students, professionals and mixed public groups, from single sessions to workshop series that feed into a research project.

Facilitated at
International Futures Studies Conference, Finland · THNK · The Hague University of Applied Sciences · Het Huis Utrecht · plus the Optimal Future Professional Body and Xulu202X research projects
